Roses Are Red...

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet;
And so are you...

And my version is:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I am here *look around*,
And there are you!

Sweet isn't it? :D

This miniature cake is also sweet. I made this cake using pinkish tone flowers as main theme and tiny pale/pastel color flowers as decoration. The heart of the cake are deep pink roses surrounded with orange-pink roses and white rose buds. Beneath the roses are tiny 4 petals light green, yellow, pale lilac, pale blue flowers.

The cake is in white cream color with decorating cream wrapping around. I, normally, make chocolate cake for flower cake. I love dark color of the cake which drives beautiful color of the decorating flowers, it gives nice contrast. But white cream cake made flower cake soft and sweet. Love it! :)

Flower, Flower, Flower...

Making miniature cake is fun and relax (no, I don't say I'm addicted! ;)). There are variety in both size and color and that you can 'play' with flower cake. :D

I had a look at photos of my previous mini-cake and found out that half (or more) of the minis I made were flower cakes. They are in different color, style and shape. When I start making them, most of the time I have no 'design' in my head. I just 'go with the flow'.

It's also fun making cake body. My regular cake body is a simple circle piece of clay or for sliced one is layered clay. How many way can we make our cake body different? Have to think about that and try something new. ;)

My First 1:48th Scale Cake!

After years of making 1:12th, 1:24th and some 1:6th scale cakes now, it's time for 1:48th.

I gave it a try last weekend and found out the complications of making such a tiny cake. I made a chocolate layered cake covered with white cream and decorated with tiny strawberries. It came out not so bad for the first try. LOL The cake diameter is just ~1/4" (~6.5 mm). Isn't it small enough? However, I made a calculation. Diameter for quarter scale cake supposed to be around 3/16" (~5 mm max.). Argggggggg!

Anyway…I already prepared for a second one! :D

Fruity Cupcakes

Lately, I'm into fruit stuff. I made fruit cupcakes decorated with my mini-fruits (cherry, grape, peach, raspberry, blueberry and strawberry). I kinda like them and keep them in my personal collection. I think they are lovely. ;)

Yes, I collect my own work. LOL I've been collecting some items I made and admire them every once in a while. Often that my brain went empty, it just gone blank and I can't figure any new cake design out and think I'm at the end of my mini-making. So, I put this thing aside and try something new.

Before these tarts, I was 'blank' on my mini-cake making. So, I gave it a try making fruit tart and pie (some are listed in my Flickr album). Pie has been my 'to do' obsession for quite a while though...

Just before Christmas, I had an idea to use my mini-cakes as Christmas ornament by putting tiny metal loop on top. From there, I made some other miniature jewelry. I wonder, how do people think about these miniature as ornament and jewelry...
